For centuries, we have relied heavily on coal, oil, and natural gas for our energy.
These fossil fuels are non renewable, that is, they draw on finite resources that will eventually dwindle, becoming too expensive or too environmentally damaging to retrieve.
Already we are seeing the weight of scientific evidence tell us that the use of these fossil fuels is having an adverse effect on the world’s climate. For more information, click HERE. If we do not take action soon, the continued emissions of Carbon Dioxide, Sulphur Dioxide and other green house gases could result in irreversible changes to our climate.
In contrast, renewable energy resources—such as solar and geothermal —are constantly replenished, will never run out and their use makes a significant contribution to stabilizing and cleaning up the planet.
Geothermal space heating/cooling systems use between 65 - 75% renewable energy, produce zero CO2 emissions and help to significantly reduce the domestic consumption of oil and gas.
Solar produces even greater savings, only having to use a small amount of electric to maintain water temperatures during prolonged periods with little or no sunshine.
Renewable systems do not use any form of combustion, so they do not produce dangerous Carbon Monoxide emissions, which has caused so many accidents and fatalities.
These resources and technologies are key to creating clean, secure, energies for future generations. We all have a responsibility to think about what we can do to help.
